Mukilteo Shines Bright: Fireworks, Drones, Orcas & One Legendary Lighthouse Weekend

Where the Muk is Heckilteo? If you have ever pondered this question, you are definitely ready for a visit to Puget Sound’s hidden gem, Mukilteo, Washington. If you like people, food, and fun, then one of the best times to discover all that Mukilteo has to offer is by heading to the annual Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival, which some also refer to as Mukfest. This multi-day festival commemorates the historic lighthouse still standing on the shore of Mukilteo beach and is also a great excuse for a lively end-of-summer celebration.

The 2025 Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival is happening Friday through Sunday, September 5, 6, and 7. There are plenty of activities for all ages, including a parade, food, fun, music, fireworks, and new this year, a drone show! The festival is great for the whole family with music and demonstrations are on the main stage during the day, and a children's area featuring inflatable bouncy houses, the bubble man, a foam party, and more.

Festival Highlights

  • NEW! Drone Show Friday, September 5 at 8:30 pm. Two nighttime aerial displays with150 lighted drones creating intricate patterns across the sky. No booms, just delightful entertainment that won’t scare kids or dogs.

  • Snohomish County’s Largest Fireworks Show! Saturday, September 6 at 8:30 pm. If you like fireworks shows, this one can't be beat. Spend the day at the festival and stay for the fireworks, which can be viewed from throughout the park, the beach, and for adults from the beer garden.

  • There will be fantastic festival food choices for everyone. In addition to the Kiwanis Salmon bake, this year the festival features a dinner for veterans and first responders, a free pancake breakfast, and a host of food trucks offering savory treats and sweets for children and adults alike.

Discover Mukilteo

  • Celebrate the historic Mukilteo Light Station. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, the lighthouse tower, which was built in 1906, will be open to the public. Learn about the history of the light from Mukilteo Historical Society volunteers and then climb the tower stairs and see the 4th order Fresnel lens still in use.

  • Mukfest Beer Garden open Friday through Sunday, Sept 5-6-7 at the bandshell. Adults (21 and over) can enjoy beer, wine, ciders and seltzers while watching live music. From Country to Blues to Rock & Roll, there will be music to suit everyone's taste. While you don't have to dance, there is room to cut loose if you want to!

  • Heart of Mukilteo Parade (Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 am). Everyone loves a good parade. Check out the pageantry as this community-oriented parade rolls past the Rosehill Community Center in Old Town Mukilteo.

Marketplace, Mainstage, and More

Check out local artisan stands, learn about exotic reptiles, see the Lion dance, and a martial arts demonstration. Marketplace booths are open during festival hours, and the mainstage features various acts during the day and beer garden concerts in the evenings.

Totem Unveiling (Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 1–2 pm at the bandshell/mainstage). Join the mayor of Mukilteo, Joe Marine, and members of the community for the unveiling of Native American totem artworks by Tulalip Tribe's master carver James Madison.

Affiliated Event - Run A Muk 5k/10k (Saturday, August 23rd) *Note that this event is the weekend before the Lighthouse Festival.Run A Muk is a Run, Walk, & Kids Dash that benefits the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival. While there is no guarantee they will be back, in 2024, a pod of Orca whales joined the revelry and cruised by the Lighthouse festival to the delight and astonishment of everyone along the beach.
