The Thorp Grist Mill - the oldest remaining industrial artifact in Kittitas County - showcases a remarkable collection of handmade wooden mill machinery.  Constructed in 1883, it served as an essential place for flour milling and social interaction for Kittitas County residents until 1946.

After 40 years of the mill’s inactivity and deterioration, a group of local high school alumni formed the Thorp Mill Town Historical Society towards preserving and renovating the Mill.  The lovingly restored mill opened as the Thorp Mill Museum in 1993; it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Mill interior tours occur on weekends from May to August.  During daylight hours all year long, visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour of the grounds including interpretive stations on the mill’s construction, operation, and renovation.
